The NCORP-SYS Web site is operated by the National Cancer Institute's Division of Cancer Prevention.

Privacy Policy

We respect the privacy of our visitors. The following privacy policy establishes how NCORP-SYS will use information gathered from your visit to our site.

If You Visit the NCORP-SYS Web Site

When you browse through any Web site, certain information about your visit can be collected. We automatically collect and temporarily store the following type of information about your visit:

  • Domain from which you access the Internet;
  • IP address (an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to a computer when surfing the Web);
  • Operating system and information about the browser used when visiting the site;
  • Date and time of your visit;
  • Pages you visited;
  • Address of the Web site that connected you to the Web site (such as google.com or bing.com); and,
  • Demographic and interest data.

We use this information to measure the number of visitors to our site and its various sections and to help make our site more useful to visitors. This information cannot be used to identify you as an individual.

We do not require personal information from our Web site visitors. We collect personally identifiable information only if specifically and knowingly provided by you. We collect information for statistical purposes and may perform analyses of user behavior in order to measure customer interest in the various areas of our site. We will disclose this information to third parties only in aggregate form. We do not give, sell, or transfer any personal information to third parties.

NCORP-SYS uses Matomo to collect the information in the bulleted list above. Matomo gathers information automatically and continuously. No Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is collected. NCORP-SYS staff conducts analyses and reports on the aggregated data from Matomo and those reports are only available to NCORP-SYS managers, members of the NCORP-SYS web and analytics teams, and other designated staff who require this information to perform their duties. For your privacy, your IP address is anonymized, meaning the IP address is shortened before the analysis. Anonymizing the IP address means that it is no longer clearly assignable to you.

If you log into NCORP-SYS, our Web site logs may include your e-mail address for the purpose of determining how errors occurred, and communicating with you to resolve problems if necessary. Additionally, the Web site includes fill-in forms that may require personal information. Such information will not be shared with third parties unless specified on the fill-in form or required by law.

Security, Intrusion, Detection

For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, our computer system employs software programs that monitor network traffic in order to identify unauthorized attempts to upload, change information, or otherwise cause damage.

Registration

Before you can use certain features on this Web site, you must register as a CTEP-IAM user. Personal information such as name, contact address, and contact email are collected during the registration process and may be used to identify you when you log into NCORP-SYS. Additionally, when registered as an NCORP-SYS web user, personal e-mail addresses are optionally collected. Your information may be used to contact you regarding updates to persons, organizations, and requests for your organization(s), as well as to communicate with you for technical support or web site issues. Your personal information will not be used in any other way.

Cookies

Pages on this Web site that require you to Log In, employ "cookies." A cookie is a small file that a Web site transfers to your computer's hard disk to allow the server to "remember" specific information about your session while you are connected. Requests to send cookies are not designed to collect information about you, but only about your browser session. The cookies make it easier for you to use the dynamic features of our Web site. The cookies and the information about your session are automatically destroyed shortly after you close your browser. The information is not permanently stored on your computer. We do not collect personal information about you except as described above.

NCORP-SYS has links to other Web sites, including some sites which are maintained by non-governmental organizations or private companies. NCORP-SYS is not responsible for the contents of any "off-site" Web page referenced from this server. Specifically:

The notice next to a link on the NCORP-SYS website indicates that the link leads to another site that is not a federal government website.

If You Send Us E-Mail

By sending us an e-mail message, you may be sending personal information (e.g., your name, address, and e-mail address). We will store this information in order to respond to your request or otherwise resolve the subject matter of your e-mail. ecause NCORP-SYS has data sharing relationships with CTEP and CTSU systems, we may forward e-mails to the administrators of those systems to help respond and accurately address any questions or issues included.

Please note that e-mail messages are sent over the Internet as free text and are not secure from interception by unauthorized third parties.

Data Use Policy

NCORP-SYS requires registered users to be authenticated and authorized to log in and view information stored within the system's database. Do not share this information with unauthorized people.

Account Inactivity Policy

If you have not logged into NCORP-SYS for over 12 months, your NCORP-SYS web user account will be suspended, and you will not be able to access NCORP-SYS. To re-activate your account, contact your program administrators. The program administrators may grant access to NCORP-SYS.
